Forward prices headed for weekly gains
Sept 27 (Reuters) -Nordic forward power prices extended gains on Friday and were on its way to register a weekly gain, helped by cooler and drier weather forecasts and a slip in water reserves in the hydropower-dependent region.
* Nordic front-quarter power contract ENOFBLQc1 rose 0.45 euros to 42 euros per megawatt hour (MWh) at 0944 GMT. The contract added about 10.7% so far this week, marking its best since the week of July 1.
* Nordic front-year ENOFBLYc1 gained 0.1 euros to 39.6 euros per MWh and added 3.9% so far this week.
* Helping the Nordic market, the trend of drier weather forecast continues and the water reserves has slipped further. The German market is also up on Friday, adding to the bullish picture, said Oletom Djupskaas, a power analyst at LSEG.
* Nordic water reserves available 15 days ahead PCAEC00 were seen at 3.72 terawatt hours (TWh) above normal, compared with 5.25 TWh above normal on Thursday.
* "Temperatures will be near or even slightly below normal, accompanied by mostly moderate precipitation. Extremely wet weather seems unlikely," Georg Muller, a meteorologist at LSEG, said in a note.
* Germany's Cal'25 TRDEBYc1, Europe's benchmark contract, gained 1.15 euros to 86.8 euros per MWh.
* Carbon front-year allowances CFI2Zc1 fell 0.73 euros to 65.79 euros a tonne.
* Dutch and British wholesale gas prices edged lower on Friday morning, continuing to fall from a recent three-week high, as steady supply helped to offset cooler temperatures. NG/EU
* The Nordic power price for next-day physical delivery FXSYSAL=NPX, or system price, fell 6.79 euros to 12.13 euros per MWh.
