Spain's Indra Sistemas signs $284 mln radar system deal with Poland

WARSAW, Sept 4 (Reuters) -Poland has signed a contract worth 1.1 billion zlotys ($284 million) with Spanish company Indra Sistemas IDR.MC for 15 radar control systems, state news agency PAP reported on Wednesday.
Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022 has made defence a top priority for members of NATO's eastern flank, and Poland has ramped up defence spending to around 4% of its GDP this year as it looks to boost its armed forces.
"These are systems highly anticipated by the Polish Army, sought after by our pilots and commanders, as well as by all those who operate military airports," Deputy Minister of National Defense Pawel Bejda was quoted by the agency as saying.
"Thanks to them, we will be able to safely observe the sky so that our planes, including the state-of-the-art F-35, can take off and land without disruptions," he added.
The radar control systems are to be delivered between 2025 and 2031. The contract includes the delivery of eight systems with the option to buy seven more.
