UK's 3i Group falls on report of Shadowfall's multi-million-pound short bet

** Short seller Shadowfall Capital and Research takes multi-million pound short position against co, The Times reports
** 3i values stake in Action, its largest holding, at 14.8 bln pounds (~$20 bln), giving Action an overall valuation of 33 bln pounds - report
** But Shadowfall argues Action significantly overvalued and that its profits were temporarily boosted by recent inflation rather than by real growth - report
** "We have not been contacted by Shadowfall or seen their report, we don't have any on the record comment," - 3i
** Shadowfall did not immediately respond to Reuters' request for a comment
** Stock among top losers on FTSE 100 index .FTSE, which is down ~0.5%
** Including session's losses, stockup 37.2% YTD
