Oct 8 (Reuters) -Currencies of resources-rich Latin America slipped on Tuesday, as commodity prices came under pressure on the lack of new stimulus measures by top consumer China, with focus on more global economic data.

MSCI's index for Latin American currencies .MILA00000CUS slipped 0.7%, with iron ore producer Brazil's real BRL= down 0.7% against the dollar.

Iron ore futures fell as some investors unwound long positions to lock in profits, while disappointment at a lack of detailed fiscal stimulus from top consumer China also weighed. IRONORE/

Economic planner chairman Zheng Shanjie told reporters China was "fully confident" of achieving economic targets for 2024, but refrained from introducing stronger fiscal steps.

"Traders overnight were said to have been let down by the lack of emphasis from China policymakers on pushing more fiscal stimulus through the system," Thierry Wizman, global FX & rates strategist at Macquarie wrote in a note.

"The disappointment — for traders expecting to see new fiscal spending — is what has tamped down on most commodity prices today."

Mexico's peso MXN= fell 0.6% in choppy trading ahead of a domestic inflation reading on Wednesday.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum late on Monday said that she had sent two proposals to Congress to implement a constitutional reform of the judiciary by tweaking electoral laws.

Copper producer Chile's peso CLP= weakened 1% after data showed consumer prices in the country rose less than expected in September, a month in which inflation usually tends to be higher due to national holidays, paving the way for the central bank to keep reducing borrowing costs.

Chile's central bank is slated to meet next week.

Oil producer Colombia's peso COP= dipped 0.9%, as crude oil prices eased after a recent rally to fall close to 4%. O/R

Data late on Monday showed Colombia's consumer prices rose 0.24% in September, while cumulative 12-month price inflation landed at 5.81%.

The focus looked set to remain on the U.S. dollar, with a U.S. consumer price index reading due on Thursday. A blowout jobs report last week all but quashed hopes that the Federal Reserve could opt for another bumper rate cut this year, giving a leg up to the greenback.

Brewing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East also prompted cautious trading sentiment. Hezbollah left the door open to a negotiated ceasefire after Israeli forces made new incursions in Lebanon.

Most equities in the region were also lower, with MSCI's gauge .MIEM00000PUS down 1.4%.

Shares in Brazilian airline Azul AZUL4.SA jumped around 20% after it announced a debt deal with lessors.

Markets in Peru were closed for a public holiday.
