Boeing delivery delays, oil price spike weigh on Norwegian Air's shares
** Shares in Norwegian Air NAS.OL drop 8% as the airline faces more challenges due to Boeing BA.N delivery delays, with the recent jump in oil prices pushing the shares further down
** The strike at Boeing will further delay airplane deliveries well into next summer and increase short-term costs, requiring Norwegian to prioritise cost-saving measures, CEO Geir Karlsen says in a September traffic statement
** The carrier is considering various mitigating actions to overcome the shortage of aircraft, such as lease renewals, Karlsen adds
** Even though the September figures exceeded expectations, cost pressures and strike issues indicate additional challenges related to the Boeing delays, says Pareto analyst Marcus Gavelli
** "Furthermore, the stock has recently traded inversely with oil prices, suggesting that yesterday's uptick in oil prices is likely contributing to today's decline in the stock," Gavelli adds
** If the losses persist, the stock is on track for its worst day since July 4
