Gold miners gain as traders added to US rate cut bets
** Shares of gold miners gain tracking, higher prices of bullion GOL/
** Spot gold XAU= up 0.6% at $2,624.5/ounce, after traders added to bets that the Federal Reserve will deliver an interest-rate cut next month following the latest U.S. economic data
** Lower interest rates decrease the opportunity cost of holding non-yielding gold
** Top miners Newmont NEM.N and Barrick Gold ABX.TO up 0.2% and 1.5%, respectively
** U.S.-listed shares of South African miners Gold Fields GFI.N up 1.5%, Harmony Gold HMY.N jump 2.8% and AngloGold Ashanti AU.N rise 3.2%
** Canadian miners Agnico Eagle Mines AEM.TO and Kinross Gold K.TO up 1% and 2.4%, respectively
