Korean won weakens against dollar

South Korea benchmark bond yield rises

SEOUL, Oct 14 (Reuters) -Round-up of South Korean financial markets:

** South Korean shares rose on Monday after U.S. producer prices data helped U.S. markets to wrap up last week on an upbeat note, although investors were cautious following underwhelming stimulus measures out of China at the weekend. The won weakened, while the benchmark bond yield rose.

** The benchmark KOSPI .KS11 rose 16.98 points, or 0.65%, to 2,613.89 by 01:17 GMT.

** The U.S. producer price index for final demand was unchanged in September, slightly below the forecast of economists polled by Reuters, indicating inflation continues to cool and giving the Fed leeway to continue cutting interest rates.

** China pledged on Saturday to "significantly increase" debt to revive its sputtering economy, but left investors guessing on the overall size of the stimulus package.

** Among index heavyweights, chipmaker Samsung Electronics 005930.KS rose 2.02% and peer SK Hynix 000660.KS gained 1.56%, while battery maker LG Energy Solution 373220.KS slid 0.97%.

** Hyundai Motor 005380.KS added 0.20% and sister automaker Kia Corp 000270.KS gained 0.10%, while search engine Naver 035420.KS and instant messenger Kakao 035720.KS were down 1.62% and down 1.60%, respectively. ** Of the total 934 traded issues, 394 shares advanced, while 461 declined.

** Foreigners were net buyers of shares worth 29.0 billion won ($21.41 million).

** The won was quoted at 1,351.9 per dollar on the onshore settlement platform KRW=KFTC, 0.04% lower than its previous close at 1,351.3.

** The won has lost 4.7% against the dollar so far this year.

** In money and debt markets, December futures on three-year treasury bonds KTBc1 rose 0.02 point to 105.84.

** The most liquid three-year Korean treasury bond yield KR3YT=RR rose by 1.1 basis points to 2.943%, while the benchmark 10-year yield KR10YT=RR rose by 0.6 basis points to 3.091%.
